3 Things You Should Know About the 2022 Honda Civic

Date: November 29th, 2021

2022 Honda Civic for Sale near Denver Colorado

It Has More Space, Style, and Substance than Previous Years

As the experts at Car and Driver have noted, the oft-lauded hatchback version of this year’s Civic takes the cake in a big way where cargo space is concerned. They even note that the rear area is almost doubled over the sedan version when the rear seats are folded down—and undeniably cool advantage, especially when you consider that the hatchback has very few comparative downsides when stacked against its sedan brethren. Gas mileage, safety features, and comfort amenities are all virtually the same across all trim levels. It also doesn’t hurt that the hatchback version even looks like a sedan, for all you folks out there aren’t ready to give up the sporty looks just yet.

Slick, New-Age Features with Old-School Dependability

Many of you already know about the acclaimed automaker’s move toward some futuristic changes to components like door handles, trunks, and gas lids. These provide a number of sweet advantages, chief among them being greatly improved security for those you want to keep out, intuitive ease-of-access for those you want to let in, and an overall slicker, more streamlined look.

And then, there’s always that voice yelling from the back: “What happens of the battery dies? What if a latch gets stuck? What happened to good old mechanical parts that don’t go punk when electrical components fail?

Fret not, because Honda has heard you.  As you can see in this YouTube video, they included some smart fail-safe entries in all three of the aforementioned areas to make sure you’re never stuck on the wrong side of the locks—the sleek pocket fob has a detachable key for manual entry into the driver door, the trunk, and even the gas cap.

Smarter Features Make for a Smarter Ride

Now, some of these finer bells and whistles have been around for a little while, but as many of us know, we can’t all just sit by the fireplace reading the manual cover to cover. Let’s catch you up on some advanced user interface settings you might’ve missed.

Fresh off the factory, the 2022 Civic is set to never lock while the key fob is inside the vehicle. But what if you’re somewhere you don’t want to worry about your sweet electric key fob getting wet, damaged, or otherwise ruined? Just use the controls on your steering wheel, scroll down to the settings display on your dash, and turn off Lockout Prevention. This will enable you to remove the detachable key we mentioned above from the rest of the fob, and carry that around without worrying about it being damaged, while the electronic components await you safely in your car.
